The Chairman, Committee and members of the Mid Antrim Motor Club Ltd, Off Road Motorcycle Section and indeed the club as a whole are deeply saddened to announce the untimely death of life member and club stalwart, Ivor McCallion at the age of 59. Ivor had bravely battled with cancer over the last few months but passed away on the 24th July with his family by his side.
Ivor was a loyal servant of the club and his love for the sport of trials and motorcycling in general was always apparent. During his long career in the club Ivor acted in many roles including chairman and was instrumental in the development of many of the events we host today. He was probably best known for his witty banter, distinctive laugh and the competitive spirit that any true trials rider should have. Of course we shouldn't forget that fiery "redhead" temper that many of us found not intimidating, but endearing.
Ivor's son, Samuel, is also a loyal member of this club and is currently our club registrar. Samuel was also brought up in the trials world and has been a keen competitor since his youth. I know for a fact that Ivor was extremely proud of Samuel , not only as a son, but as a sportsman.
To Ivor's wife, Anne, Samuel and his wife Judith and their daughter Grace may we offer our deepest sympathies and we hope that you may take great pride in the fact that Ivor will never be forgotten, not only for his charcater but for his loyalty to the Mid Antrim Club and to the sport of trials. To have known Ivor and to have shared so many happy times with him fills us all with great pride and joy.
