The Mid Antrim Motor Club was formed in 1945, immediately after the war by members of the Ulster Home Guard, the Second Antrim Battalion Transport Platoon to continue their mutual interest in motoring. The newly formed club promoted it’s first event on 29th September 1945, a combined car and motor cycle rally. 1946 saw the first promotion of the Mid Antrim 150 road races, together with the Slemish Cup trial and Shane Cup trials.
These events continue to be promoted very successfully to this day and have been complemented by additional events. These include short circuits, which are promoted at Aghadowy, and Nutt’s Corner, in fact we were the first club to promote motor cycle racing at Nutt’s Corner circuit. We also promote two additional trials during the season.
The club currently consists of two sections, the motor cycle section and the car section. Although both sections operate as separate club’s they are both controlled by club council which consists of elected members from each section and both operate under the same set of Articles of Association.
This web site is for the motor cycle section, if four wheel sport is your interest then our car sections web address is: www.mamc.co.uk
The club has always strived to promote top quality events through professional organisation and approach, a tradition the present officials and committee’s endeavour to maintain and even improve. |
