The Mid Antrim Motor Club was formed in 1945, immediately after the war by members of the Ulster Home Guard, the Second Antrim Battalion Transport Platoon to continue their mutual interest in motoring. The newly formed club promoted it’s first event on 29th September 1945, a combined car and motor cycle rally. 1946 saw the first promotion of the Mid Antrim 150 road races, together with the Slemish Cup trial and Shane Cup trials.
The Motorcycle side of the club now consists of two sections, Off-Road and Tarmac. This site is solely for promotion of the Off-Road section of the club, which promotes motorcycle trials to the highest standards. The current team are committed to encouraging good competition, high riding standards and most of all enjoyment for everyone involved. The club has a wide variety of trials throughout the season. Our first trial of the season is the Shane Cup set in the beautiful Glens of Antrim, consisting of rivers and challenging forest terrain. Our infamous Slemish Cup trial sends riders on a fun but very demanding circuit of the famous landmark and is our last event of the year. To fill in the season we have our summer trial and our Open & Youth Trial also in the foothills of Slemish.
The club currently consists of three sections, the motor cycle sections and the car section. Although the sections operate as separate club’s they are both controlled by club council which consists of elected members from each section and all operate under the same set of Articles of Association.
If four wheel sport is your interest then our car sections web address is: http://www.mamc.co.uk
The club has always strived to promote top quality events through professional organisation and approach, a tradition the present officials and committee’s endeavour to maintain and even improve. |
